This recipe is adapted to make a smaller batch from a recipe in The UltraMetabolism Cookbook: 200 Delicious Recipes that Will Turn on Your Fat-Burning DNA by Mark Hyman M.D.

2 carrots
2 celery stalks
1/2 onion
1/2 package mushrooms
2 garlic clove
1 sweet potato
1/2 cup dried split peas
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cups vegetable broth
1 1/2 cups water
1 tsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp thyme
3/4 tsp black pepper
1 bay leaf

Add all ingredients to a slow cooker. I think my slow cooker is a 6 quart. Cook on low for 6 – 8 hours.
